Day 7-still in Tibet

While we did get a great night sleep, I feel as if I’m in a constant state of lightheadedness, complete bloat and high blood pressure. I know the longer we’re here, the better I should feel, but I’m ready to leave Tibet. Yesterday(Sunday) we met late and drove to old Lhasa and visited a temple, did a little shopping, had lunch and then visited a nunnery. It was all nice, slow paced, etc. I know they’re preparing us for what will likely be the most physically demanding day today, when we climb the steps of Potala Palace. It was the home of the Dalai Lama, until he left the country as a refugee in 1959.  He is currently living in India and won’t return as the Chinese government would require him to return as a Chinese citizen. I’m sure it’s much more symbolic than what it sounds.  Ray says when this Dalai Lama dies, he thinks there will be a lot of unease and they’ll likely shut their borders for a while.

We then had a nice dinner and short show called the Crazy Yak Dance. It was crazy. Lol.

We’ve had our breakfast and are preparing for the Palace steps. Then this afternoon, we get to go to the monastery and watch the monks debate!  Should be interesting!
